Translation

“O Arjuna, son of Pritha, I will surely explain how you can know me completely without any doubt by practicing Yoga with full consciousness of me. Moreover, this knowledge comes when your mind is attached to me during your spiritual practice.”

Context of the Verse:

  • This verse basically opens Chapter 7, which is the same as Gyana-Vigyana Yoga or Yoga of Knowledge and Wisdom.
  • As per Chapter 6, Krishna concluded that the yogi who surrenders with devotion is the highest yogi. Regarding the types of yogis, Krishna declared the devoted surrendering yogi as supreme.
  • Now, he surely begins explaining the path of knowing God and achieving realization. Moreover, this lays the foundation for deeper understanding of His divine nature.

Key Teachings in This Verse:

  • Attachment to Krishna (Asakti): Basically, real Yoga starts when you fix your mind on God with love. It’s the same as making your thoughts focus completely on the Lord.
  • Dependence on God (mat-asrayah): Moreover, we are seeing that spiritual growth needs taking shelter in God only, not depending on our own power alone.
  • Union of Devotion & Knowledge: Basically, Yoga is not just meditation but the same union of bhakti (devotion) and gyana (knowledge) working together.
  • Complete Understanding: Through devotion and surrender, one can know Krishna completely and not partially. This practice itself leads to further understanding of Krishna’s true nature.
  • Certainty (Asamsayam): As per the understanding, this knowledge will give complete certainty regarding truth and faith.

Relevance to Arjuna:

  • Arjuna is confused about what is right duty and the same doubts about life’s real purpose.
  • Krishna tells Arjuna that if he shows devotion and depends on Him, he will get complete knowledge about the Supreme Reality without any doubts – it’s the same as getting perfect understanding.
  • This verse surely prepares Arjuna to receive higher knowledge about God’s material and spiritual energies. Moreover, it encourages him to understand these divine powers more deeply.

Explanation:

We read before Lord Krishna gave a hint to Arjuna. What is that science which you have to know in order to become out of clutches of birth and death, do you? And – then the supreme goal of all spiritualists. Otherwise, what is the subject matter of God? And that is the topic Lord Krishna spoke about.

He further related, I was transcendently born and my pastimes are transcendental. They are divine. They do not abide by the laws of this nature. But someone who can decipher the science behind my birth and my activities. Otherwise, after quitting this body He does not accept any more such inferior material bodies. But He returns to me and He lives His eternal spiritual life in His spiritual figure.

But the question is how to understand Krishna’s birth and activities, Krishna’s science. We are working, we have people to supervise, everyone is not equal; there are so many departments to manage. Within each department there are so many branches to run etc. Why do you think Krishna did not give us this initiation in the Gita? Because He had just given explanations of some processes and different Yoga ladders, karma Yoga, jnana Yoga, dhyana Yoga, but living entity can only come to comprehend about Krishna otherwise. Therefore, Lord Krishna is explaining now, now listen to how you can know me without a doubt. Others may always be doubtful. They will not know what to think. But if you accept this process, then all doubts about God’s existence, His activities will be clear. Samagram means in completion. So, what is the process? These words are very important. Mind clinging to me in complete awareness of me. And you being conscious of me, offer your mind and understanding unto me; serving me, thou shalt come unto me in very deed. This is the only means of knowing Krishna, in full. Therefore, the great son of Maharishi Vedvyas, author of Mahabharat is Bhagavad Gita he addressed this beautiful verse that to know absolute truth.

He was a person unhinged from the time of his birth. And Shukadeva Goswami says, “trance on the lotus feet of Krishna at every second. This is called Krishna consciousness. So, when a man is in trance, Samadhi for at least one second if he thinks of lotus feet of Krishna within the heart. While contemplating the form of Krishna One should not immediately look on His lotus face, but should begin from His two feet and gradually raise his eyes to His smiling face. Our only trouble is, we try to compete with God. Given a chance. We want to become Lord. We want to be God of the world. So there you have it, that’s why we wish to be masters of all we survey. We want to lord over the other living entities, and that is the cause of all the problems of this world. All individuals are attempting to be other individuals’ lord. And the answer is service. That’s what he told I am servant of servant of a servant or maintainer Gopis. Then becoming servant not master is the only solution to all problems of life. Servant of servant of servant of Krishna. Is it not after all for education if there are no jobs? Our education is useless. So we must serve a person, receiving money for maintain. We’re in the business of serving our customers. All are in some service or other. If we become servant, not direct servant, very humble. Servant of servant of servant of God. Then that is success of life. That in that stage, you can be very, very peaceful and know the science of God. And finally in the corporates also, people are realizing and that is why you have a coined this word, servant leaders. The leaders-must think, I am servant. So, in fact, whatever we may try, we can show all different models that you can come up with and invent, but the model to live happily and finally understand God as is in what it does, servant there’s a mention of the Vedas. Therefore, we are supposed to meditate from the lotus feet of Krishna.

Then one can, when he is always thinking of the lotus feet of Krishna, and if 24 hours you can continue this process, then gradually you come to other parts of body of Krishna. So these people, factually be able to have this meditation always. We so many opinions about absolute truth, but only one who is absorbed in such kind of trance. Only in trance he becomes able to perceive the absolute truth. And the same Krishna is telling here, yes, full mind should be attached to me and with an awareness of you, you perform Yoga.

Serve me! Surrender the fruit of your action to me. How the mind can be so focused in that way on Krishna? This is indeed a great mystical science. You can do it nine different ways. Sravanam akirtanam visnoho smaranam pada-sevanam archanam mandanam dasyam sakhyam atma-nivedanam. One would learn this science from an expert spiritual master.

But in all this nine its first and the predominant is Sravanam ie hearing. Hearing is very important.

Translation

“I will now explain to you this complete knowledge of both the visible and invisible worlds, after knowing which nothing further remains to be known. This knowledge itself contains everything that needs to be understood.”

Context of the Verse:

  • As per the Bhagavad Gita structure, this verse appears at the start of Chapter 7 called Gyana-Vigyana Yoga. Regarding the content, Krishna gives Arjuna higher spiritual knowledge in this section.
  • After encouraging Arjuna through karma, devotion, and discipline in earlier chapters, Krishna now surely reveals the highest wisdom that combines both theoretical knowledge and practical realization. Moreover, this supreme teaching integrates complete understanding of both spiritual concepts and their direct experience.
  • Moreover, Krishna explains that once Arjuna understands this teaching, we are seeing that no mystery will remain for him to discover. This knowledge only will make everything clear to him.

Key Teachings in This Verse:

  • Twofold Knowledge:
  1. Gyana: Theoretical knowledge that comes from scriptures and texts. This knowledge itself requires further practical application to become complete understanding.
  2. Vigyana: the understanding that comes only from direct experience and realization.
  • Complete Revelation : Krishna surely promises to explain everything comprehensively without hiding any details. Moreover, he assures that his teaching will be complete and thorough.
  • Ultimate Sufficiency: Basically, once you understand this wisdom, you don’t need to search for anything else—it’s the same as reaching the highest level of spiritual knowledge.
  • Union of Knowledge and Experience: As per spiritual understanding, truth is not only for intellectual knowledge but must be lived and directly experienced regarding real realization.

Relevance to Arjuna:

  • Arjuna finds himself confused about his duty and dharma, and he further struggles to understand the true nature of the self.
  • As per Krishna’s assurance, the teaching he will give regarding dharma will clear away all doubts from Arjuna’s mind.
  • We are seeing that for Arjuna, this knowledge is not only about theory—it directly helps his struggle because it brings together understanding of God, the world, and what he must do.

Explanation:

We are seeing that knowledge has only two main types. There are basically two different kinds of knowledge that exist. One is called Gyanam, and the other one is called Vigyanam. These two concepts further represent different types of knowledge itself. We are seeing two types of knowledge only – knowledge of the world we can experience and knowledge of the world beyond our senses. As per philosophical understanding, phenomenal refers to things we can experience through our senses, while noumenal means things as they truly exist beyond our perception. Regarding this distinction, phenomenal is what appears to us and noumenal is the real nature of things. Phenomena are surely the things we observe in our world around us. Moreover, they represent how we see and experience reality through our observations. As per Immanuel Kant’s philosophy, there are two parts of existence – one that we see and one that really exists, and both may not be the same. These terms are used regarding this idea that what we perceive and what actually is can be different.

Basically, when we see water in the desert, it is the same phenomena that creates optical illusions. Our eyes provide us knowledge that we are seeing water itself. This further confirms what we observe through vision. This is further known as Gyanam itself. But what is Vigyanam itself, and what further happens in scientific knowledge? As per physics principles, this phenomenon is called total internal reflection of light. Regarding this process, light gets completely reflected back when it hits the boundary at a specific angle. Moreover, actually, it is definitely just light reflecting in the air. This creates what we see but nothing solid is really there. As per our observation, we can see water regarding this matter.

We definitely need to understand all the knowledge we actually receive through our senses and mind. This is similar to how we must grasp everything we perceive around us. We are seeing this point again because it is only very important to understand this properly. Our senses surely act like small windows in a room, providing only limited views of the world around us. Moreover, these windows restrict our complete understanding of reality. We are seeing what is outside our house through that window only. This window is the only way we can look at things beyond our home.

Basically, when somebody asks us to describe our city, we need to explain the same features and characteristics of our place. Basically, we can only describe what we see from our room’s window – the same limited view from where we are sitting. We can never know the real and full nature of the city, and from that window, if we are seeing mirage, then whatever we are seeing is only illusion. These senses are actually similar in the same way. They definitely follow the same pattern. These elements surely act as windows into the very essence of existence. Moreover, they provide clear glimpses into the fundamental nature of life itself. For a blind person, shapes or colors actually do not exist in their experience. They definitely cannot perceive these visual elements. We are seeing that a person with no touch sensation can only never experience any kind of touch in their life. For a person who actually cannot taste anything, taste definitely does not exist for him.

Basically, if a person cannot taste anything, then taste is the same as non-existent for them. When all senses stop working only, we are seeing that a person cannot see, cannot hear, and cannot touch anything. For such a person, the world itself does not exist, but this is not the actual fact. Further, this remains only their personal experience and not reality. As per observation, the world exists with all its beauty, colors, fragrances, tastes and touch feelings, but regarding the senses, they are not working properly.

As per this understanding, a person inside the room should not be overconfident regarding his opinions about what he sees through the window. Basically, this shows a narrow understanding of the world, and at worst, everything becomes the same illusion. From his window, he surely sees only mirages. Moreover, these false visions completely block his view of reality. This claim is surely false, so one can never truly know what is actually happening in the noumenal world. Moreover, the real nature of things beyond our experience remains completely hidden from us. Science is surely the systematic study of the natural world through observation and experimentation. Moreover, it helps us understand how things work and solve practical problems in our daily lives. Science surely means understanding things as they truly are, but current scientific research also bases its methods on knowledge gained through our senses. Moreover, these sensory windows become the foundation for how we gather and interpret scientific information. We are seeing that we can only tell what we perceive, but the real nature of things we shall never know. How can we actually understand what things really are? We definitely need to look beyond surface appearances to grasp their true nature.

We can surely never understand the true nature of things. Moreover, this reality will always remain hidden from us. Basically, how do we find out what things are really like? It’s the same question of understanding the true nature of everything around us. As per the analysis, there is only one way regarding knowing this matter. Also, basically, knowledge comes only when the creator gives the same. Basically, I have created your body, mind and senses – the same way everything is made. This is surely how you perceive the world around you. Moreover, this process shapes your entire understanding of reality. We are seeing that this only is the real situation of our world.

Further, we are seeing how we have created it only. There is actually no other method to know this thing. We definitely cannot find any different way to understand it. As per spiritual understanding, a person cannot progress regarding higher consciousness unless they reach the platform of Knowledge. Basically, where is the happiness question coming from? It’s the same thing – there is no real question about happiness here. We are seeing that animals die only while chasing water in desert areas, but they never get the water. Similarly, we are seeing that people are dying while chasing happiness in this world, but they only never get it.

As per the current analysis, the situation is not much different regarding the previous conditions. Animals surely do not question the truth of what they see, like whether water in the desert is real or just an illusion. Moreover, they simply accept their perceptions without any doubt or analysis. Similarly, if we do not question whether true happiness exists in this material world, we will further keep dying repeatedly without finding the satisfaction our heart itself seeks. As per academic requirements, actual knowledge regarding truth is important for this purpose. Basically, it’s about what is there and what is not there – the same question of existence and non-existence. Also, basically, real happiness comes from inner peace and contentment, while illusory happiness is the same temporary pleasure we get from external things like money or status. Krishna will actually explain the knowledge of both worlds – the material world we see around us and definitely the spiritual world that supports it.
