Translation

“When a Yogi surely practices with sincere effort and remains free from all impurities, he ultimately reaches the Supreme goal after many births of dedicated practice. Moreover, this continuous endeavor across multiple lifetimes leads him to the highest spiritual achievement.”

Context of the Verse:

  • As per the preceding verses (6.41–44), Krishna explains regarding the destiny of Yogis who cannot complete their spiritual journey in one lifetime.
  1. They take birth in pure, prosperous, or spiritual families, which further helps their spiritual growth. The family environment itself supports their spiritual development.
  2. They actually start from their previous point because past actions definitely leave marks. These impressions from earlier efforts continue the process forward.
  • Verse 6.45 basically shows that after many births of practicing the same spiritual efforts, the person finally achieves perfection.
  1. A Yogi surely continues his efforts with strong determination. Moreover, this striving becomes his natural way of spiritual practice.
  2. As per Yogic teachings, the Yogi gets complete perfection (Samsiddhi) after removing all impurities from mind and body. Regarding this state, it means the person becomes fully developed in spiritual practice.
  3. This perfection surely leads to the ultimate goal of union with the Supreme, which is moksha or liberation. Moreover, this represents the highest achievement in spiritual practice.

Key Teachings in This Verse:

  • Spiritual progress actually builds up step by step over time. Each practice session definitely adds to your overall growth. As per spiritual beliefs, if a person does not achieve success in one life, the journey regarding their goals will continue in the next birth.
  • We are seeing that when Yogis do regular practice with sincere effort only, their sins and obstacles get purified. Through repeated practice, all the bad things blocking their path are removed only.
  • Actually, every birth moves the Yogi closer to being perfect. Each life definitely brings more spiritual growth.
  • Basically, when the Yogi keeps practicing with determination, they reach the same ultimate freedom called Param Gatim.
  • Basically, any genuine effort you put into Yoga will always give you the same benefit – nothing gets wasted. The true seeker will actually achieve success without any doubt. Success definitely comes to those who genuinely search for it.

Relevance to Arjuna:

  • We are seeing that Arjuna was afraid that if he left his duties for Yoga, he would only face failure and loss.
  • Krishna is telling him that no spiritual work gets wasted – we are seeing that it only moves forward to the next life.
  • We are seeing that even if Arjuna cannot reach perfect state in this life only, his true efforts will make sure he gets progress in next births.
  • Basically, this teaching removes Arjuna’s fear of failure and gives him the same confidence to stay committed to Yoga without worrying about results.

Explanation:

It is actually not easy. Students definitely face many challenges in this process.

There is confusion present in this matter, which further creates problems. The situation itself requires immediate attention. Actually, there are definitely many theories available. These theories are clearly present in large numbers. We are seeing that we are only very tiny in size. As per our understanding, an ant cannot comprehend our mathematics, sciences, or governance systems. Regarding this comparison, the ant’s mental capacity is too limited to grasp such complex human concepts. No, the ant’s body structure itself cannot support such complex intelligence processing. Further, their simple nervous system limits advanced cognitive abilities. We surely cannot understand God, who is the creator of countless planets and universes. Moreover, such divine knowledge is beyond human comprehension. The practice of Yoga itself requires many births to develop further. This process extends across numerous lifetimes of dedicated practice. Basically, Krishna is telling Arjuna the same thing – do not worry. We are seeing that after many, many births only, one person will reach this goal, and that too if they work very hard. Constant practice itself requires many births to develop further. This process takes numerous lifetimes to reach completion. Basically, this process happens the same way very slowly over time. Basically, when a person does Yagya and charity work, it’s the same as starting Karma Yoga practice.

As per the process, a person can then develop proper mental balance regarding their thinking. Further, one surely develops the Vedic wisdom found in the Upanishads about the soul. Moreover, this cultivation leads to deeper spiritual understanding. When a person advances further, the stage of Dhyana Yoga itself begins and meditation starts. Basically, after many births of practice, one retains the same Krishna consciousness and knowledge of God. The long process is surely very difficult, but Krishna presents another short method here. Moreover, this approach is very practical for implementation.

Translation

“Regarding spiritual progress, the Yogi’s path is considered the highest among all these approaches. Therefore, O Arjuna, you should further practice yoga in all situations, as this path itself leads to spiritual growth.”

Context of the Verse:

Basically, this verse appears near the end of Dhyana Yoga, which is the same as Chapter 6.

Krishna has been telling about how great Yoga is – the same practice that connects our soul with God. After comparing different spiritual paths like asceticism, knowledge, and ritualistic action, Krishna surely declares that the Yogi is supreme because Yoga combines all these aspects together. Moreover, this integrated approach of devotion, discipline, knowledge, and action leads directly to realizing the Divine.

Key Teachings in This Verse:

  • Superiority of Yoga: We are seeing that the Yogi’s path is higher than doing only hard practices, book knowledge, or ritual actions alone.
  • Integration of Paths: Yoga surely brings together discipline, knowledge, and devotion in one practice. Moreover, this combination makes it the most complete path for human development.
  • Union with the Divine: A Yogi seeks direct connection with the Supreme itself, which goes further than partial approaches.
  • Practical Guidance: Krishna is telling Arjuna to not only learn about yoga, but to actually become a Yogi himself.

Relevance to Arjuna:

As per Krishna’s guidance, Arjuna can fulfill both his warrior duties and spiritual quest by becoming a Yogi. Regarding his confusion, Krishna reassures him that yoga helps integrate both paths together.

Krishna is surely guiding him to move beyond the struggle of picking between giving up worldly life, gaining knowledge, or taking action. Moreover, he teaches that Yoga is the highest path that one should follow.

We are seeing this directly motivates Arjuna to fight with a Yogic spirit – he becomes detached, disciplined, and devoted only to his duty.

 Explanation:

Basically, there are different types of people in the world, and they all follow the same general patterns. We are seeing four main types of spiritual seekers in Indian tradition. These are only Karmi who does actions, Gyani who seeks knowledge, Tapaswi who does hard practices, and Yogi who joins with the divine. Karmi refers to the majority of people who work for material results. This term itself indicates those who further engage in activities for worldly gains. Basically, a Karmi also follows the same Vedic rules but for enjoying material pleasures.

People today surely want to enjoy their senses without following proper laws and regulations. Moreover, this behaviour shows they have become Vikarmi in nature. Nature causes great harassment to people. This further creates stress and anxiety in life itself. As per the teachings, Karmi is the person who works very hard regarding enjoying the sense objects in this world. As per the Vedic rules, when a person feels dissatisfied while following them, it shows he has developed strong faith in the Vedas. Regarding his spiritual progress, this dissatisfaction itself proves his firm belief in Vedic teachings.

As per my efforts, I achieved the result, but I am not satisfied regarding the outcome. Surely, we must examine what further insights the Vedas provide. Moreover, these ancient texts offer additional valuable teachings worth exploring. As per the progression, he then becomes Gyani regarding his spiritual development. Then he surely understood that since he was not the body, he could not be satisfied. Moreover, this realization brought clarity about his true nature beyond physical existence. Basically, people start doing Tapasya because they understand the same practice will purify their mind and senses, helping them know who they really are. We are seeing that Yogi is greater than all others because he only serves God directly. Now, Yogis can be divided into various types. Each type further develops itself through different spiritual practices. Gyana Yogi surely follows the path of knowledge and wisdom to reach spiritual truth. Moreover, Dhyana Yogi practices deep meditation, while Karma Yogi performs selfless action and Bhakti Yogi pursues devotional love. They actually want to connect with God. This is definitely their main goal. Yogi is the highest among all, but which type of Yogi is best since there are different kinds. Krishna further explains this point itself in the following verses.

This final verse of the chapter further explains that question, which is important itself.

Translation

“Among all yogis, only the one who stays with Me always with strong faith and worships Me with loving service is most closely connected with Me in yoga and is the highest of all.”

Context of the Verse:

Basically, this verse is the same as the ending of Chapter 6, which talks about Dhyana Yoga or meditation practice.

  • Krishna was teaching Arjuna about different yoga paths – Karma-Yoga, Gyana-Yoga, and Dhyana-Yoga – and explaining how they are the same in reaching spiritual goals.
  • We are seeing that Arjuna, being a warrior only, needs simple guidance on which path is best and most fitting for him.
  • Krishna actually explains that among all types of yogis who do austerity, study, meditation, and renunciation, the Bhakti-Yogi is definitely the best. The devotee who meditates on Krishna with love and faith is actually supreme above all others.

Key Teachings in This Verse:

  • All Yogis are great, but the Yogi who worships God (Krishna) with strong faith is further superior to others. This devotion itself makes him the highest among all Yogis.
  • When you actually practice devotion with meditation and surrender, you definitely reach the highest union with God.
  • As per Bhakti-Yoga practice, the devotee naturally includes Karma (selfless service), Gyana (knowledge), and Dhyana (meditation) in his devotion. Regarding the Bhakti path, all these elements work together in the yogi’s spiritual practice.
  • Basically, just studying books or following strict rules is not enough – you need Sraddha, which is the same as having real faith in your heart.
  • True Yoga is self-mastery itself and further represents union with the Supreme Being through love and devotion.

Relevance to Arjuna:

  • Arjuna surely faces a deep conflict between his warrior duties and his love for family members and teachers. Moreover, this crisis makes him unable to fight in the battle.
  • Basically, Krishna tells him that among all spiritual paths, devotion to Him with love is the same as the highest path.
  • This actually gives Arjuna confidence: he must fight, but if he does his duty with devotion to Krishna, he is definitely practicing the highest Yoga.

Explanation:

As per Krishna’s declaration, he first instructed Arjun to become a Yogi. Regarding this guidance, Krishna clearly told Arjun to follow the path of yoga. Working for results brings enjoyment in the activity itself, and this further creates satisfaction in the process. Basically, this is foolishness and the same abominable work that Krishna declared in previous chapters. We are seeing that Gyani is only a new type of fight for spiritual perfection, and Tapaswi becomes Yogi in the same way. Actually, there are definitely different types of Yogis among practitioners. These various kinds of Yogis follow different paths in their spiritual practice. Basically, the yogi who always keeps me in his heart through meditation, he serves me with the same deep faith and love. He thinks of me in his heart and further engages himself in my service. He is the best Yogi, but Arjuna said this practice itself is impractical for him. Further, Arjuna expressed his difficulty in following this path. I am a worldly ruler who must govern my kingdom and handle political matters, and further manage my palace with my queens and children. The responsibility of ruling itself requires me to be a strong leader in all these areas. We are seeing that going to jungle and doing all these activities is only possible when we have proper planning and basic equipment with us.

Krishna actually told Arjuna not to worry because he was already at the highest level of Yoga. Among all Yogis, the person who always thinks about Krishna in his heart and serves him is definitely the best. As per the teachings, this process is called Bhakti Yoga regarding the sublime spiritual path.

Krishna explained Karma Yoga in the first six chapters, and now he will explain the same important knowledge of Bhakti Yoga directly in the next six chapters. Basically, not everyone can understand Bhakti Yoga the same way since it requires different levels of spiritual awareness. We are seeing that Krishna has slowly built up the philosophy and explained this Yoga ladder only step by step. As per gradual progression, Bhakti Yoga is most simple yet remains the highest and most sublime path. Regarding its nature, this practice starts with basic devotion but leads to the topmost spiritual achievement. This process is very rare because people cannot practice it without the mercy of a pure devotee of Krishna who is expert in Bhakti Yoga. The practice itself requires further guidance from such an advanced devotee. Basically, finding someone who is the same pure devotee of Krishna is very, very rare.

If someone is surely fortunate enough to meet a Pure Devotee, they can immediately progress in this perfect Yoga system. Moreover, this contact provides the fastest advancement in spiritual practice. Krishna actually explains that a true Yogi is definitely a sanyasi because he completely gives up all desires, even the wish for moksha or merging with Krishna. Further, his only desire is actually to serve Krishna with love, even through many births. He definitely wants nothing else but to engage in Krishna’s loving service. A Yogi is actually someone who renounces worldly things. They definitely give up material pleasures to focus on spiritual practice. As per Gyani and Krishna’s explanation, this most difficult process is not practical regarding this present age.

As per our current lifestyle, we cannot practice Brahmacharya properly. Regarding this spiritual discipline, it has become very difficult to follow in today’s time. We are seeing that brahmacharya means stopping all sexual thoughts in the mind, not talking about sex, and avoiding physical sexual activities only. Basically, sexual thoughts should not enter the mind at all – the same principle applies to mental purity. As per today’s civilization, is it possible regarding the situation where all sexual content and downloadable material is available on phones? Also, we are seeing that Brahmacharya is only very hard for common people, but it is still important. In other yoga processes, one must surely first become a brahmachari. Moreover, this preliminary step is essential before advancing to higher practices. First, one must surely go to the jungle and leave family behind to practice Yoga. Moreover, this separation from worldly attachments is essential for proper yogic discipline. In Bhakti Yoga and Karma Yoga, the process itself is the same thing. Further, both paths lead to the same result. Further, as per Krishna’s teachings, Karma Yoga becomes perfect and turns into Bhakti Yoga when a person does all activities regarding what Krishna has told.

As per the analysis, this approach is feasible regarding implementation. We are seeing that we can offer our activity results to Krishna only, and when advanced, we do activities as Krishna directs us. Basically, Karma Yoga or Bhakti Yoga is the same recommended process that works best here. This is what Krishna further recommends to Arjuna. The recommendation itself guides Arjuna’s path. Therefore, keep Me always in your heart and further engage in battle itself. This method surely represents the most effective approach for practicing Yoga. Moreover, it provides the optimal technique for achieving desired results.

As per observations, people sometimes face confusion regarding this matter. We are seeing that Krishna is only rejecting the other processes here. He basically explained the same Yoga process. As per the study of Vedas, you are told to do your duty very well. Regarding your work, you must perform it nicely. Basically, we should do our business work properly and the same way it happens automatically. This is actually the way we definitely move forward in our spiritual journey.

Basically, just doing duties is not Yoga – the same duties become Yoga when we remember Krishna in our heart, follow His directions, and offer the results to Him. Also, that is actually perfect and definitely practical for everyone.
