Then, at the holy place in Kurukshetra, Dhritarashtra asked, “What did my sons and the sons of Pandu do, my Sanjay, desiring battle?
Men like Yuyudhana, Virata, and Drupada are good examples of the strongest warriors; they will demonstrate their archery skills in this force to a level that can compete with that of Bhima and Arjuna.
You all have to gather at your assigned position within the Army’s phalanx and support Grandfather Bhishma wholeheartedly.
This verse describes the conch shells blown by the Pandava brothers. Then Yudhishthira, the son of Kunti, blew (his divine) conch Anantavijaya, Nakula and Sahadeva blew the conches Sughosha and Manipushpaka, respectively.
I must see those assembled here, who have come to fight, and who are on the side of demon-minded son of Dhritarashtra, and who have come to please him in battle.
I can no longer stand up, and my head is spinning, as though I can’t get my bearings. O Keshava, I behold malefic omens surrounding me.
Thus, we do not deserve to kill the sons of Dhritarashtra (our own relatives). O Madhava (Krishna), how can we be happy if we kill our own comrads?
Disregarding the scriptural injunctions, with the rise of unwanted population (varna-sankara), the women of the family are corrupted and that leads the family to hell, and the destroyers of the family also go to hell. The ancestors fall (from their spiritual position) because the ritual offerings of food and water (pinda and udaka) are stopped.
O Janardana (Krishna), we have heard from the scriptures that one who destroys the family traditions surely goes to hell and stays there for an indefinite period of time.
